Downton Bowling Club We are conveniently situated near the Leisure Centre in Wick Lane, Downton. We have our own pavilion and Clubhouse. As a member you are automatically a member of the Brian Whitehead Social Club, so we have the advantage of bar facilities and the Sherwood Function Room, housing a skittle alley. Lawn Bowls is enjoyable, social, rewarding, healthy and satisfying. A great way to exercise. In a session of bowls you are stretching, walking, bending, using upper body and leg muscles, all performed in a gentle manner. The Green is full size which enables seven rinks to be played at once. The members are a very varied collection of individuals, several of whom travel some distance passing other clubs to specifically play at Downton Bowling Club because of the friendly and convivial atmosphere. Whilst the teams and matches are competitive the most important attribute of the membership is that everyone enjoys themselves and plays with integrity, good grace and good humour. The friendship and offers of assistance, advice and tips extended to novices and newcomers is exceptional and enduring, enhanced by loads of social events both summer and winter. We have our own coaches and equipment is supplied. Contact us anytime to arrange to have a go outside of the Open Days.
